Save burned out Christmas lights to recycle at Stockton United Methodist Go Green Team’s Annual Residential Light Bulb Recycling Drive in February.
Light bulbs are 100% recyclable. Residential Christmas lights, CFL and LED lamps, and incandescent light bulbs recycle for free. Bundle Christmas light strings (with bulbs) and tie off with the cord; no plastic bags, please! CFL and LED lamps contain mercury; secure and transport each CFL and LED lamp in a small Ziplock bag.
The Go Green Team charges The Computer Recycling Center’s residential recycling rates: $1/1-4 ft fluorescent or LED tube, $2/5-8 ft fluorescent or LED tube, $2/U-tube, $8/projector bulb, $3-$4/shattershield bulb. Cash only.
This residential drive is not equipped to accept commercial bulbs or lamps. For information about recycling commercial lights, call the church office, (417) 276-4717.
For safety, bulbs cannot be stored in the church at any other time so drop them off at the drive-thru portico on the east side of the church only on Sunday, Feb. 8, 9:15-9:40 a.m. or the following Wednesday, Feb. 11, 9:30-11:30 a.m.
SUMC is located east of the square on Hwy. MO-32 at the intersection of Hwy. MO-J. For more information, visit https://www.stocktonumc.org/about-creation-care, or call the church office, (417) 276-4717. Watch this space for more information closer to the event.
Recycling imitates God’s creation design!
