Greetings,
I want to update you on some changes coming to the Children’s Ministry program in our
church. We are excited to announce that we are growing!
Beginning Sunday, April 12th , Stockton United Methodist Church will offer children
Sunday School classes at 9:45 am on Sunday mornings. As our congregation has
grown, we’ve had interest in having 9:45 am Sunday School classes for children.
Right now, our 9:45 Sunday School classes will be:
Infants, Toddlers & Kindergarten ages – class to be held in the Nursery.
First Grade through 5 th Grade – class to be held upstairs in Room 214
We will expand ages and classes as needed.
SUMC’s Children’s Ministry Team would like to embrace family ministry by encouraging
children to remain in worship services. We would like to nurture our children and
families & faith journey. Having children in worship fosters a sense of community and
belonging. When families worship together, parents and the congregation at large have
an opportunity to model their faith to their children. It also allows children an opportunity
to model their faith to the adults in the congregation. We’ve all heard the saying “From
the mouths of babes.” Children have much to teach the world about faith and love.
We know that children can often get wiggles and giggles. We want the joy of children
as well as the presence of children. However, little hands and minds need tactile
experiences to occupy and expand their minds and hearts. We will provide “Worship
Bags” for children. A small bag of activities that will enhance the weekly message
during service. The children may take the items from their “Worship Bags” home. We
ask that you return the bags to the “Worship Tree” so that they can be re-filled with new
activities for the following Sunday.
We will continue to have the Nursery open and available for infants and toddlers that
need care.
If you have any questions about the reorganization of the Children’s Ministry program,
please contact me. We are working to provide the best programs for your children with
resources available to us.
Please pray for our Children’s Ministry Program, our children, and those who teach and
guide them.
Blessings,
Deb Campbell & the Children’s Ministry Team
