Welcome one another, therefore, just as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God. Romans 15:7
Walking into Stockton United Methodist Church for the first time is a warm and welcoming experience. Expect warm smiles and welcoming personal greetings just inside each entrance.
The newness and attractiveness of the welcome area and sanctuary will grab your attention. Stockton United Methodist Church’s physical assets, like many other physical assets in Stockton, were severely damaged in the tornado of May 4, 2003. Like most of the community, our church rallied and rebuilt. While the physical attributes are pleasing, it is the smiling faces backed by welcoming minds and warm, Christian hearts that provide the true pulse of Stockton UMC. This is a casual, friendly church with a collectively open mind and heart.
With more warm smiles, ushers at the entrances to the sanctuary hand out bulletins that show the order of worship. We ask visitors to register their presence on the tear-off flap inside the bulletin and drop it in the collection plate during the worship celebration. If you have any questions, please ask the ushers.
A few minutes before 10:30 a.m., the lay leader makes announcements. As the worship celebration starts, he traditionally welcomes visitors and offers the opportunity to introduce those who want to be introduced. When members of the congregation know the visitors, they usually introduce them. However, those who visit without knowing anyone often—and are encouraged to—introduce themselves.
Children of all ages are welcome in the worship celebration. Near the beginning of worship, Pastor David invites children to come forward for a children’s message. He or a lay leader and the children sit together on the chancel steps, then the children return to their seats. Parents who would like to worship without the distractions of child care may sign children up to five years old into our nursery located adjacent to the welcome area and a few steps from the sanctuary.
Join us immediately following the worship celebration for Christian fellowship, snacks and beverages in the Family Life Center.
Restrooms are located near the sanctuary, between the church office and the Family Life Center.
Welcome!
