Koinonia Youth Group (grades 5-12)

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.  Philippians 4:4-7

Meets Sundays, 4:30-6 p.m. in the SUMC Family Life Center

Visiting youth always welcome! Bring a friend, hang out and have fun!

Koinonia is a Greek word which means "community," but a deeper, more intentional community than the English word communicates. A Koinonia community loves, shares and builds each other up. A Koinonia community is united by common convictions. We seek to build this type of uplifting, safe and challenging community in our youth group as we develop Christian relationships and become disciples of Christ.

During Lent, starting February 26, we are studying "24 Hours That Changed the World," by Adam Hamilton, Abington Press, Nashville, Tenn., 2009.

We play a variety of stimulating games, relate Bible passages to our life experiences, pray together, and eat supper together. Some of our youth play or sing in our Heaven's Bridge praise band, the adult choir, play the piano and other musical instruments on special occasions. Every summer, we serve as Christ's hands and feet as we serve on various missions.
